Amongst all the organization and life planning, there is one component of my life that is a hot mess, my nutrition. I am carbs’ #1 fan. Seriously, I deserve a trophy. Don’t get me wrong; I have gained self-control throughout adulthood and have swapped donuts and cupcakes for bananas and Lara bars. However, I am still thee WORST and never eat protein. Rather, I fuel myself with about 95% carbies. Honesty hour: I hate cooking meat, reheating meat, and touching raw meat. Protein is a real struggle for me. Although my nutrition is a little bit off, I would still consider myself fairly health-conscious and stick to my rigorous workout routine.
My goal for 2020 was to not just focus on “eating healthy”, but actually fueling my body with the nutrient-rich foods that it needs. For me, this means more protein. With working full time, I struggle to pack protein filled breakfast and lunch foods that are good reheated in a microwave. Getting organized and creating a plan for my nutrition has seriously helped me! By no means have I perfected this, but I feel so much better knowing that I am at least attempting to create a plan for one of the most important aspects of my life: my health.
So ya’ll, create a plan, MEAL PREP yourself some healthy meals, and try my recipe for homemade turkey breakfast sausage! I absolutely love these, they reheat super well, and they are a great source of morning protein.
Homemade Turkey Breakfast Sausage Ingredients:
· 1 pound lean ground turkey
· 2 T maple syrup (use 4 T if you prefer a sweeter breakfast sausage)
· 1 t onion salt
· 1 t garlic powder
· 2 t thyme leaves
· 2 t rosemary
· ½ t salt
· Dash of pepper
Step 1: Mix together one pound of ground turkey with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Add in all seasonings, and stir well to fully combine.
Step 2: Use a large cookie scoop to portion out scoops of the mixture. Flatten into patties. I got 14 patties from my mixture.
Step 3: Place a non-stick skillet on medium heat. Grease pan with olive oil. Place the patties into the skillet and cook on each side for 4 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meat reaches 165 degrees. Repeat until all the patties are cooked.
I hope y'all enjoy these as much as I have been!

I finally got the chance to make this. I made it with ground chicken instead of turkey, better for the hubby. I do not like any of the turkey sausage I have purchased so far but use it anyway. I must say that I really like this recipe, so much flavor. Thank you! This will be my new go to.
This is perfect, I have a pound of turkey meat and didn't know what I was going to do with it. I'll let you know how mine turn out.
